Vinturi Wine Aerator

I was recently sent a Vinturi Wine Aerator which I’ve been enjoying trying out recently. The manufacturer Vinturi state “Simply pour wine through a Vinturi and ordinary wines become wonderful wines” which is quite a claim! It’s just a case of holding the aerator over the glass and then pouring the wine through it. The [...]

It’s that time of year when everyone is desperately trying to work out what to buy someone who doesn’t really need anything for Christmas. With that in mind I was pleasantly surprised to take delivery of a couple of bottles with my name on them from Gone Digging. It’s a really nice novelty idea for [...]

This one was suggested by one of the entrants in our recent competition so when I spotted it at Tesco I thought I would give it a try. This one is an Australian Cabernet Sauvignon with a healthy 14% alcohol and I think it was around £4-5 although at the time they had a 25% [...]

I was given this bottle by a friend recently and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. On the nose it was deep, spicy and leathery. Nice gentle tannins, full & fruity and a lovely warm spiced after taste. With many people recently suggesting big brands like Wolf Blass should be avoided I’m [...]

This was my favourite red from the recent Cockburns of Leith tasting. After working our way though a few lighter reds, a couple of Beaujolais and some Pinot Noir we moved on to the Cabernet Sauvignon‘s and really enjoyed this one.

Third Wine in the Twitter Taste Live. Produced by Bodegas Dinastia Vivanco. 100% Tempranillo. I thought: The bottle was fantastic! Very fruity, earthy, smoky – not much experience of red wine personally but I could get a taste after trying this one. Others said: deep, mellow, cherry, rich, fruity Available from Bibendum

Second wine in the Twitter Taste Live event. 80% Zinfandel, 17% Petite Sirah, 3% various red varietals. From Delicato Family Vineyards. I thought: It’s a fantastic colour. Warm and Spicy. Can’t make up my mind on this one overall though. Maybe better to eat something with it. Others said: cinnamon, light, berries, warm Available from [...]
