I was given this bottle by a friend recently and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. On the nose it was deep, spicy and leathery. Nice gentle tannins, full & fruity and a lovely warm spiced after taste. With many people recently suggesting big brands like Wolf Blass should be avoided I’m delighted to say I thought that exact opposite and will be buying myself some more of the same!
It seems perhaps that it’s a little of the wine snob in us that makes us think we need to avoid a brand name in search of the wine from a smaller wine maker. I think it’s like how we all want to discover a new band before anyone else has heard of them and before they go mainstream. Any thoughts on big brand wines?
I have to admit that my wine & food pairings aren’t always particularly standard and so this time round I had the Wolf Blass with a Haggis Pizza from local company Cosmo. It worked perfectly for me! ![]()
