Wolf Blass Red Label Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon

I was given this bottle by a friend recently and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. On the nose it was deep, spicy and leathery. Nice gentle tannins, full & fruity and a lovely warm spiced after taste. With many people recently suggesting big brands like Wolf Blass should be avoided I'm delighted to say I thought that exact opposite and will be buying myself some more of the same! It seems perhaps that it's a little of the wine snob in us that makes us think we need to avoid a brand name in search of the wine from a smaller wine maker. I think it's like how we all want to discover a new band before anyone else has heard of them and before they go mainstream. Any thoughts on big brand wines?

I have to admit that my wine & food pairings aren’t always particularly standard and so this time round I had the Wolf Blass with a Haggis Pizza from local company Cosmo. It worked perfectly for me! 🙂

The Wolf Blass Red Label is currently available from Majestic

No longer available from Majestic but see below for other links.

  2. This is my favourite wine – no other wine is as smooth and tasty! Sadly, Majestic have said that Wolf Blass will no longer offer them a deal so they are discontinuing it! Pleeeaaaase let me know if it is on offer anywhere else.
    Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the comment Lou – It’s still available from Gondola. Just follow this link
