Blackwood Ridge Pinot Noir

Colour: Plum red, with some transparency.

Scents: Mild spice with blackcurrant and cherry, a very typical pinot noir.

Taste: Fleshy, juicy plum and hints of rose. The wine is rather lacking in depth of flavour considering its tempting bouquet.

ABV: 16% (Late Harvest)

Thoughts: This wine promised to be a good one – 16% despite its youth, and with a delicious scent upon pouring – though it lacked any real depth upon tasting. This wine is clearly in need of a few years in a dark, cool cellar though there is always the concern that it’s high alcohol content could end up reducing the flavour regardless of its cellar time. The winemakers suggest giving this wine time to decant and breathe, allowing some of the more subtle flavours to come through, and this might be an option if you’ve got the time.

Overall rating: 2.5/5

This is another bottle that we bought from Naked Wines
