Otra Vida Fairtrade Cabernet Sauvignon

This Argentinean wine has all the trademarks of an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon at a very affordable price. It has a robust flavour that can hold its own against strong foods and I would recommend this wine as an accompaniment to spiced foods and strong cheeses.

Unfortunately the lovely, strong flavours overpower milder foods and cheeses.

At first, this wine gives a deep taste of red fruits and the oak flavour that is promised on the label is subtle. Only later does the enjoyable, slightly spicy, woody flavour come through. It has a heavy but smooth, velvety texture and only a hint of sharp tannins if drank at the higher end of the 14 – 18oC scale.

The deep purple colour when poured adds to all of these qualities to make an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bought for £4.99 from Gondola.
